In the summer of 2022 Jäger graduated from her studies at the University of the Arts Berlin in the class of Contemporary Art and Photography of Prof. Josephine Pryde. In 2018 Dana Rabea Jäger was awarded the Anna-Oppermann-Prize and in 2022 she received the IBB-Prize for Photography. Among other exhibitions her work was shown at the Museum of Photography in Berlin (2022), at Villa Heike, Berlin (2020) and at the Investitionsbank Berlin (2022/23).
Dana Rabea Jäger’s works often deal with the ambivalence between expectations and experiences.
Questioning heteronormative relationship models, as well as traditions and stereotypes are key aspects in her works. With regards to one's own needs and limitations as well as those of others, images and manners are being reviewed and explored. Familiar symbols are placed in unusual settings, triggering a change of perspective. The artist's own imprint and sexual identity, which is usually the starting point for Jäger's artistic idea, connect the works with personal vulnerability, but rarely remain in this state. The aim is to turn towards communal resistance.
